Keep Warm Weekend

Like everyone says, Texas is a Bi-Polar State and to prove it. Earlier this week, Sunday to Monday, we received a lot of sleet. By Tuesday Morning, we get light snow and that melts away within hours. Wednesday, it’s a beautiful day, mid 60s, any reminents of ice has melted away. My yard is a beautiful green again. Thursday is still okay, a bit breezy and cool,  by Friday morning we are under a Winter Weather Warning and by that evening, snow falling like nobodys business. Saturday, roads a mess, most businesses in the area are closed or closing early. It takes my husband and son [who ride together] 4 hours to get home. Yes, Texas is a bi-polar state. We only have two seasons, Summer & Winter, if you don’t like one, wait a day, it’ll change. 🙂

While stuck in the house due to the snow that seems to shut Texas down, I played around with ideas for my new Fauxdori planner. I saw a great PIN on the addicting Pinterest site and I have been writing various quotes and then came up with the idea to do a page dedicated to coffee quotes.

This is the Fauxdori planner my sister created for me. I still use the ARC planning system but wanted to so something with the one she crafted for me. I also received another Midori Travelers Notebook [MTN] I ordered and I use that one for my favorite Quotes & Sayings.

Coffee Page

There are a variety of pages available for the ‘dori planners, you can search Pinterest, Google pages but one of my favorite places is My Life All In One Place. He has quite a few of amazing pages, even a small tutorial on the best way to cut and bind them for your MTN. If this is one of the ways you’d like to do your planning, go visit the site for your extra inserts. Best of all, he offers them “Free” and we all like free!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and for those of us snowed in, Stay Warm!

It’s Cold!

I hope everyone is having a terrific Tuesday. Here in the big state of Texas, we are “Frozen”! Yes, Texas has received the first sleet storm for this year. What makes it so bad is we are so ill-equipped to deal with weather like this. I know most states laugh when Texans freak out about weather like this but it’s only because we get it maybe for a week once every two years. We just aren’t used to it.

Texas Closed until further notice

Since I can’t get out of my driveway due to ice, I’m home doing some early spring cleaning. I’m not one to plan dinner a week ahead of time. I’d love to be able to but the days here are hit and miss. I tend to plan in the morning for the full day. For this cold weather, I decided I’d make cold weather food for dinner. I don’t know how many are like me, but I seem to always come up with my desserts first 😉 Tonight is going to be Microwave Brownie Lava Cakes. These are so easy to make with the items you have at home.

Microwave Brownies

These are the best cakes, I’ve made them a few times. You can find the full recipe from littles bits. They are Yummy!

One of our favorite cold weather foods is chili or stew. Tonight will be Healthy Turkey and Veggie Chili. I found this recipe at Snixy Kitchen. It’s really good and perfect for winter weather. Just put it all in my crock-pot and go. This recipe calls for a stove top version, but you can put it in a crock-pot to simmer all day.

Hope you will stop by and try these two great recipes for your cold weather days. I’m off to get things rolling here. Have a wonderful Tuesday, and if you’re in those cold states right now…

Stay Warm!

Monday Planning

Yup, it’s Monday. Most of the world is waking up for their weekend relaxations and preparing for another week of work, but not this family. Since my husband and the two of four children that still live at home, a ‘Normal’ 9-5 M-F job is not in their weeks. Me, however, I am a well, what do I call myself? I’m not a S.A.H.M. any longer, so I’ll call myself a S.A.H.K. [Stay@Hm Krafter].

Our family doesn’t get to schedule weekends with other family members, RSVP to those parties that are on those normal weekends, etc. With my husband working every day of the week ‘cept Thursday, my son working Tu-Sa, and my daughter working all the time, we don’t always get to see each other, let alone plan. All that being said, is why I don’t really know what a Monday is any longer so I have to “Plan”. < – There’s that word, Plan.

I started using a basic planner in high school. It wasn’t much, simple calendar to keep track of those tests, quizzes, papers due, etc. I stopped planning after graduation only to find myself needing to plan again once my four children were born and interested in school and extracurricular activities. For years I had to make sure my planner was handy and used it for tracking their school events, projects due, sports practices and then again, once they were all graduated, I stopped planning.

That was my first mistake. It was like I stopped planning my own life. Just because I was no longer tracking my children, didn’t mean I should stop tracking other things. My husband [Ed] and I have always had goals and dreams that we wanted to fulfill once the children were older. We didn’t keep track [plan] to do anything and those goals and dreams faded away.

Today, I’m back to planning. We both still have our goals and dreams, of course not all are about traveling, cruises, and the fun stuff, we still need to track things we both want to accomplish around the house, if we don’t plan, it won’t be done.

Planning styles are different for everyone, I want to show you a few that have set me on my path to organizing again. I will do this in different sections of posts so the post isn’t long [too late right?]

First off, you need to find a good planner, one that you feel comfortable with. There are a variety out there, ringed binders, spiral bound, travel notes and disc bound.

Once you’ve shopped and decided which system you wish to use, you move onto what do you need it your planner and why.

I leave you today with this, planning is an important part of our life, whether we realize it or not.

Happy Planning!

If I could not be creative, I don’t think I would know how to exist. Creativity is in all of us in various forms, we create everyday of our lives. I always think to myself, what can I create today. Maybe it’s creating a mess, an idea, a plan. We all create, I am… therefore I create. [I also Live, Love & Laugh]
